For the second time in the last couple of years Subaru issued a recall for the for a long list of Subaru vehicles. The odd thing about this one is it’s really a recall of the recall as many of the cars repaired over the last couple of years were basically repaired with the same potentially defective passenger side air bag they were taking out, as the real replacement parts were not ready yet.
Here is essentially the list of affected Subaru’s
Oh and lets not forget about the Saabaru’s
So once again this is going to drive a lot of older model Subaru’s into the Subaru dealer service department, and while this is not quite like leading lambs to the slaughter, it is kind of disturbing the stuff that seems to come up. Its during these “free repairs” that many of our customers are presented with “your Subaru needs this or that” and in many cases we find brakes are being recommended to soon, services that have already been performed like 30/60/90k are being suggested because they have no record and this fluid looks dirty. What I need you to understand that the service advisor and the Tech need to “sell their paycheck” every week. At the dealer level, service advisor’s are commission sales people, and techs are paid off of the amount of work they produce in a given week. Its not even that they have to be bad people its just how the industry is set up at the dealer. For the record All Wheel Drive Auto and Drive Auto Sports are neither, my staff is paid a decent salary or hourly wage and we believe in doing the work that is needed, when its needed.
If you find that you need to go back to the Subaru dealer for the air bag recall yet again, remember one thing your Subaru drove in and if you are given a huge list of what your being told your Subaru needs, it can drive on out for a second opinion. I bring this up as most of our customers, not all but most come to us for everything their Subaru needs, we have your history including a list of things on older models we are monitoring for you. Like this is leaking a little, lets monitor it for know, and at the next oil change see if its any worse That’s not really how it works at the Dealer, they just don’t have that kind of time.
We are offering Subaru owners that are local to us a free Second opinion. Let us tell you, or better yet show you, what your Subaru needs or in many cases doesn’t need. So if you have been given a laundry list at the Subaru dealer let us help you keep it clean.
