Subaru Bluetooth & Apple Car Play Tips

Auto connecting when you get back in the car

If you are having auto connect issues, the first step is to make sure you have the latest software on the phone. Once that is updated, try deleting all phones from the radio unit and also deleting the car from your phone. You will have to pair the phone again. Many issues come with how the phone is paired… Some of the Legacy and Outbacks require you to pair it using the steering wheel controls. The car will walk you through it using voice command. If you just pair it through the radio, the auto reconnect feature will not work.

Does it sound like you are under water?

This is a common complaint with the Crosstrek and Impreza’s. You have to find the sweet spot on volume. Try sitting in the car (with it running, or the battery will die) and make a test phone call. Talk and adjust the volume on your PHONE first then in the radio unit itself. Everyone’s phone is different. If you have the volume all the way up on the phone and you are using Bluetooth, it will sound like you are underwater to the person on the other end.

Apple Car Play

Does your Apple Car Play disconnect and flash “no device found”?

Apple Car Play will work best when you are using a factory APPLE cord. If you buy an aftermarket cord from Ebay for example, it may not recognize it and the system will cut out or in many cases sound garbled. For the 2017-2018 Impreza, Crosstrek and Outbacks, there is an audio unit update. This will also fix the backup camera glitches if your Model Subaru also suffers from that.

We hope these quick tips help!
